UGANDA TOURISM DELEGATION PARTICIPATES IN THE GLOBAL EXHIBITION ON SERVICE, GREATER NOIDA, INDIA

Hon. Kamuntu is among the six Ministers who are participating at the exhibition at India Mart & Exhibition Centre, Greater Noida, India, and attended by close to 550 exhibitors, 100 of whom are from 73 countries. The Global Exhibition in Services covers 20 key services sectors including ICT, tourism and hospitality, logistics, education and financial services among others. Uganda was represented at the Exhibition by officials from Uganda High Commission in New Delhi, Uganda Tourism Board, Uganda Investment Authority, Office of the Prime Minister and Uganda Wildlife Authority as well as individuals from the Private Sector.
On the sidelines of the Exhibition, Hon. Prof. Kamuntu on 19/4/2017, met with a team of investors in the tourism sector at Crowne Hotel, Greater Noida - India. Among these were the representatives from the Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) which is a member of the World Travel Agents Associations Alliance (WTAAA), the representatives of Publicis Groupe which is a French multinational advertising and public relations company, and representatives from the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board, among others. 
The Minister extended invitation to these investors to travel to Uganda by July 2017 to visit the various tourism opportunities (for both tourism and investments in tourism related infrastructure), including the Source of the Nile Development Agenda of Government. A proposal for February 2018 Kampala Convention for Tour Operators and Travel Agents was discussed and recommended for follow up
In her remarks, out-going High Commissioner, Elizabeth Paula Napeyok thanked the investors who had accepted to travel from the various parts of India to attend the meetings. She commended the efforts of the High Commission staff and the Honorary Consul in Mumbai, Mr. Madhusudan Agrawal of Ajanta Pharma, for efforts to promote Uganda as a priority destination for outbound tourism and as favorite investment destination.
