Uganda Electric Buses In the Making

Thursday, 11th March 2021

Uganda is set to overcome some of the teething problems of establishing a motor industry. Through its Kiira Motor Corporation the country is set to  produce up to 30,000 buses for the regional market, with 65% parts and components localized by 2030.

The company has already developed electric and diesel run buses thanks to the combined efforts of external and internal agencies including the Ugandan army; which provided some of its top engineers and technicians. There is no strict adherence to roles when it comes to technology development for the vision of socioeconomic transformation. Every department of government pitches in, including the national army.
