India Trains African Roof-top Solar Engineers

Thursday, 27th September 2018
Twenty one engineers from different parts of Africa have received training in installation and management of roof-top solar panels and associated equipment. These African engineers and technicians are among similar groups from countries in the tropics which are members of International Solar Alliance (ISA).  The training is one of the activities which ISA, launched in February this year,  has been carrying out on solar energy and its uses in member countries. The 21 engineers and technicians are the Continent's Master Trainers in this field. Their duty henceforth, is to train selected engineers and technicians on the Continent, as well as in their respective countries, on roof-top solar technologies and their applications.

African Heads of Mission in New Delhi met the 21 engineers from their respective countries on 17th September, at a meeting organized by the Interim Director-General of ISA.  The main aim of the briefing was to make Ambassadors aware of the preparations which India is making for the forthcoming First General Assembly of ISA.

New Delhi and the adjacent city of NOIDA, will from 2nd October, host the First General Assembly of ISA. All members of this global body are expected to attend the Assembly, which promises to be a mixture of pomp and grandeur with practical common sense as world leaders gather in India. The fundamental point of ISA is the global resolve to fight climate change through devising, adopting, promoting and using solar technologies.
